I know you just started with Flutter development on VSCode and you want to run your newly built app in Android emulator however you bump into the following issue

No suitable Android AVD system images are available. You may need to install these using sdkmanager, for example: sdkmanager “system-images;android-27;google_apis_playstore;x86”

Below are a couple of steps that worked for me

  1. Open Android Studio and create a new project

  2. Next, select the “AVD Manager” from the top menu which will open “Your Virtual Device” window

    anrdoid studio select avd manager
    anrdoid studio select avd manager

  3. Click on “Create Virtual Device…”

    anrdoid studio create virtual device
    anrdoid studio create virtual device

  4. On the next screen; select the device configuration and click on the Next button to finish the wizard

  5. Now go back to VSCode and select emulator from the footer.

    vscode select emulator
    vscode select emulator

You should see the newly created virtual device - in my case, it is “Pixel XL API 30”

vscode debug on emulator
vscode debug on emulator

  1. Select the device and click Run -> Start Debugging

Happy Coding!!
